Thimbleberries "Gardener's Touch"
Melinda's Quilt
Back to the fun stuff!
I was tied up for a couple of weeks with our annual maintenance outage. This past weekend I had the chance to catch up on my quilting. I quilted a "Turning Twenty" in blacks and pinks for a friend of my sister's (Melinda). As it turns out, she grew up in the Tri-Cities and I know her brothers and sisters-in-law. I have played golf with all of them. Plus I worked with one of her brothers--Dean for "Twenty" plus years!

Good Monday morning. This is a picture of a quilt that I sent off this morning to a friend in Bellingham, Washington. I don't like how the picture looks but it is too late now. She wanted an extra long twin, in teal, with a pillow sham. The front of the sham has been quilted as well. The fabric is Moda's "Hello Betty". I added eight of the alterate fabric squares to give the quilt a little pizzazz!
Last week the check spring on my gammill broke. I ordered two new springs and when they arrived, I went downstairs to change it. It took me about 30 minutes and two springs later to figure out how to replace the darn thing. I have been having problems with the thread tension since I got the machine and now I know why--the check spring that broke was totally different than the new ones. I tried to get the two new ones installed the same way as the old one and hum m m, it didn't work. Luckily, I found a spare and installed it correctly. I fought the tension for so long that I hated to quilt. All I can say is, "Thank you little check spring for breaking!"
My sister emailed me this weekend to see how busy I was. I asked her what she had in mind. Well, she said, I was thinking that we could make her stepson, Jason, a quilt with a golf theme. Besides my quilting obsession, I work a forty hour week outside of my home. So I gave her my list of projects and added hers to the list!
On Friday, I ran out to Village Quiltworks to pick up some fabric. The owner of the shop, Debi Trevino, did the quilting for the Quilt_Forget_Me_Not quilt that is featured on the Susan G Komen website. Please follow the link and buy a ticket. Support Breast Cancer Research. Besides, it is a BEAUTIFUL quilt! Congradulations to Debi and the rest of the designers.
