Scrappy Sunday

Yes, I know, I am still working on my Courthouse Steps.  I have sewn 16 squares for a total of 80.  And the worst/best part is that I was looking at the pattern and I need to make a "B" block with the light and dark strips reversed.  You will be able to look at something different next Sunday!  LOL

Today, I will be quilting in the dungeon and cutting the fabric for the Pam Buda Sew Along!

Vacation

Today is the end of my first week's vacation.  If you recall, last week-end I drove to Utah for a family reunion.  Tuesday, I finished my "Willow Weave" from "Aunt Reen's" Jelly Roll Sew Along.  Wednesday, I worked on my "Hidden Baskets" and Thursday, I kind of took the day off!!  Early morning, I made a mini quilt that is 11 sq. inches.  It is called "Baking Powder Biscuits" by "Sweet Confections".

I played hooky the rest of the day with some friends.  We drove to Hermiston, Oregon, to shop at a new quilt shop called "Material Girl".  It is a rather small shop with a nice selection of fabric and offers internet sales.  The shop has only been open since April.  We had lunch, and then drove home.  I worked some more on my "Hidden Baskets", and then met with my sewing group called "Sew What".  This is a group of beginners who are very eager to learn new things.  I showed them how to make a simple shoulder bag and they all did an excellent job!!  I took a picture but it won't rotate!?

This evening I can say that "Ta Da", I have finished "Hidden Baskets" and the baskets will be obvious to you, finally!!

My project for tomorrow is to start the "Pam Buda" Sew Along and get a couple of quilts quilted.

Willow Weave

I have spent the last six hours at my machine BUT, I have finished my Willow Weave top.  I used Pom Pom de Paris with a yellow fabric for the squares.  It doesn't show up as well as some of the other quilts that I have seen.  I also made mine a bit smaller.  I love it!  Thanks Doreen for the great pattern/project!  What's next?

I am going to work a bit on my Courthouse Steps,   Then off to the dentist for my checkup!

"Hidden Baskets" uses fat quarters, and you can make two blocks with each quarter.  So, I have six blocks made, 14 more to go!

Happy Father's Day to All The Wonderful Dad's Out There!

I spent most of the day down in the dungeon trying to catch up on some of my quilting.  I quilted two quilts for a friend and three little doodads of mine.  I will stitch the binding while watching to tv tonight.

No Scrappy Sunday for me next week as I will be out of town for a Rowe family reunion.  I am looking forward to it.

I hope that you had a great week-end, I did!!

Week-end Progress

The last place that I left you was me golfing in a tournament on Tuesday.  Our team won and my partner and I won our match and tied for first place and won a couple of bucks!!

So, where am I with all of my projects.  I finished 14 more courthouse steps for a total of 64, half way!

I worked on my blocks for Aunt Reen's Jelly Roll Quilt Along.  I am using Moda's "Pom Pom de Paris".

AND, I finished my "Simply Charming" mini quilt for June.  It is called "Cabin Steps".  My border "Blues" don't match but I think that is ok as it is a scrappy mini!

I pieced one block from Moda Bakeshop's posting today, just to see if I liked it.  I DO, and will eventually make the quilt using "Aspen Frost".

I think that I am done sewing for the day.  I am going to fix up another planter for the front porch and then start supper!

New Project Hidden Baskets

I finished the first block of my new project called "Hidden Baskets" by Victoria L Eapen and her new book "Large-Block Quilts".  The blocks are 12.5 x 12.5 and I am using all  Kate Spain fabric.

I am off work tomorrow to play in a golf tournament!  YEAH!!

Sunday Sewing

I came home from golf this morning, put a roast in the crock pot, finished up my courthouse steps AND then, finished the top of my "Roadshow".  I have included Zeke in one of the pics because normally he hates to have his picture taken!!

Since I am not into quilting right now, my next project is going to be my "Simply Charming" mini quilt, JUST AS SOON AS I PICK THE ONE THAT I AM GOING TO WORK ON.  LOL!!

Scrappy Sunday

It is Scrappy Sunday time!!  I have almost finished another 14 blocks (total = 50) of my Courthouse steps.  I need to sew one more row of lights on each side.  I will take care of this after golf.

And, speaking of golf, I took my Audra's quilt with me to the golf course yesterday so I could rip out three blocks that were turned the wrong way.  Thanks Jane!

I also started a new Schnibbles, not this month's but one called "Roadshow".  I like the design very much.  I am using two charm packs from "Esprit De Noel" by French General.  It is a beautiful fabric.

I will end my Sunday Scrappy report by saying:  I MUST GET DOWNSTAIRS AND DO SOME QUILTING!!!

Audra's Iris Garden Flimsy

I have worked most of the day trying to finish my "Audra's Iris Garden" quilt.  The outer border is actually the grape color fabric.  In the pics, it looks brown to me.  The quilt measures 84" x 84".

I have the backing all pieced and ready to go downstairs.  BUT, now I have to decide on how to quilt it, custom or wholecloth??

Audra's Iris Garden

Progress pics of my Audra's Iris Garden Quilt.  I am using a "Thimble Blossom Pattern" called "Lucky".  Same quilt, just different angles.

Scrappy Sunday

Have you signed up for Scrappy Sunday yet?  It's a fun way to use up some of your scrappy stash.  There aren't many details, just sew up some scrappy blocks, show them off and then link up with Kim.

I finished another dozen blocks of Courthouse Steps and started another dozen.  Total made = 36, 102 more to go!!  I know, they all look the same, but I am not showing you the same blocks over and over!!  LOL

I am also working on a quilt using Moda's "Audra's Iris Garden".  I originally bought two charm packs, but after starting the project, I bought 2 more plus some fat quarters.  Can't wait to show you the finished flimsy--maybe next week some time!

There are a couple of new sew-alongs that look interesting.  One is at Green Fairy Quilts and the other is over at Katy from Fat Quarterly.  Katy is making "Impromtu", which I just finished!!  Pam Buda is also starting a quilt along!
