Red, White and Blue!
I have to tell you that I love red, white and blue quilts. If I have one, I have a dozen, BUT, when a thought crosses my mind, I will add to the collection. Here is an optical illusion, sort of, for a new pinwheel. I changed the directions of the pinwheels for each row (turned the red and blue) I am going to add a red sashing, and then a blue border. I do need some help on "How do I quilt this darn thing?"
If you have any design suggestions, please leave a comment!

Fishing?
Here are two that need binding, and both minis
.
And my newest project, called "Braid" and is from the newest Fons and Porter "Scrap Quilts". I am using scraps from my "Swoon" quilt and most of the fabric is Kate Spain.
Happy fishing and "Catch" you later!

Mini Quilt Day
I have a few mini quilts to show you. The first one is part of a monthly quilt along on Huckleberry Stitches. We are using Kathleen Tracy's book "Prairie Children and Their Quilts" and the first is "Log Cabin".
Now, it is down to the dungeon for a few hours!

Sew, Where Have I Been?
Why, she says, I have been sewing and sewing and quilting. I will catch you up over the next couple of days. I finished my first Xmas quilt of 2014. My cousin sent me some green Santa fabric covered with coco cola! Sew, I made her this quilt and two pillow shams. The backing will be the green Santa/Coke fabric. I will quilt it with something a little modern or some lines?!
I started another Xmas quilt, a large carpenter star. But, I didn't like the background fabric, sew I ordered something different. I will post some more pics tomorrow.

Memorial Week-end!
I hope that you had a good memorial weekend. My dad was a WWII Navy Veteran and former prisoner of war. Not a day goes by without thinking of him and my mother. My sister and son usually places flowers on our family's grave sites (Western Washington). Since I will be retired next year, I plan on joining them!
I have been off work since Wednesday and have to return to work tomorrow for two days and then have my new four day week end! I got my retirement papers in the mail on Saturday, another step to September!!
I played golf Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and finally, I mean finally, played a decent round on Sunday. I made cookies again, Butterfinger cookies and then this afternoon, I made my favorite shortbread cookies. I put White Chocolate M&Ms in the batter! I don't know how long that this will last but we will enjoy the homemade cookies while we can.
I finished up my "Lucky Stars" quilt. I was going to make it a queen size, but having just finished a queen "Swoon", I decided that a lapsize was ok! I used several collections of Fig Tree and am thinking about putting a border on it. What do you think?

Special Note!
I interrupted my sewing this morning to bake some Snickerdoodle cookies! It has been quite some time since I baked (I think Christmas??) and have been craving homemade cookies. Yummy, right out of the oven (ok, five minutes, sew you don't burn your mouth!)
I worked on my "Market Day" block this morning, cut some rectangles for my cousin's Christmas quilt, did my housekeeping and am now working on a little project that I started some time ago. It is "Lucky Stars" from a Quilt Story Quilt Along in 2013! I am trying to use my huge stash of Fig Tree fabric. Mine will also be a little more scrappy than Megan's!
Have a great Memorial Week-End!

Saturday Fun!
I just got home from playing 18 holes of golf in a brisk breeze, just like it has been all weekend. Sew, I took some pictures inside of yesterday's flimsies. I was going to spend the day in the dungeon, but never make it downstairs. I was up about 4 am and started a second mini "Spool" and then made an "Endless Possibilities". I gave my sister the last one that I made. Yes, it was blue!
Sew, now it is off to the dungeon to quilt and watch the Mariner's game!

Swoon Update--Fini
Good morning dear friends. I have finished my Swoon and a baby quilt by-product! The wind is blowing briskly, so I took pictures in the bedroom. My Swoon is ~100 x 100" and I used Kate Spain's "Daydreams". If you plan to make Swoon, be very careful when cutting your pieces. I had to piece a few blocks!! I know that you can't really see the four rows but when/if the wind dies down today, I will take another picture.
I have a couple of projects on the waiting list but, I don't know which one will be next. I will let you know later. Thanks for stopping by!

Swoon Update
I have been working on my "Swoon" quilt this week. I am using Kate Spain's "Day Dreams" and have completed six blocks, with the seventh all cut. In addition, I have twenty little pinwheels cut from my flying geese corners. When all is said and done, I will have a cute baby quilt to go with my "Swoon"!
It was a little breezy, so I had to use some rocks to hold the blocks down LOL!

Market Day
Today is Day 1 of Pam Buda's "Market Day Sew Along". She gave directions for two sizes of quilts. I used her fabric for the "big" one and scraps for the "little" one. I am hoping that the little one lends itself to being scrappy!
I always save the corners that I cut off when making flying geese or the squares as pictured above. If you read the comments from my True Blue post, my sister Vicki, left a "nice comment" about it. Her favorite color is blue and she is the one who has most of my blue quilts! Anyway, I am going to sew all of the little triangles and make her a "True Blue" mug rug or small quilt! We will both be happy! Love you too!
Last night I cut fabric to make "Prill" by Rossie Hutchinson featured in "Best Modern Quilts", Winter 2014. The blocks are large, so I might have it finished by the end of the week end.

If It's Friday, It Must Be My Day Off!
It is a beautiful Friday and while taking some pictures of my finished quilts, I took a couple of pictures of the Lilacs surrounding our backyard!
The quilt below is my scrappy granny squares, all quilted and bound!
And this is my current project."True Blue" by Minick and Simpson. I have 17 more blocks to make. The quilt will finish at 48" x 48".
I have tee times for Saturday and Sunday and will probably get some sewing done. Sew, see you later!

Eck, It Is Back To Work Tomorrow!
I shouldn't complain too much, I only have sixteen more Mondays before I retire!! I got my eighteen holes of golf in early this morning. After putting my clubs and stuff away, I headed downstairs to the dungeon to quilt and switch the TV back and forth between the Master's and the Mariner Game. I have finally joined the "Swoon" group. Tonight, I finished the binding on my mini Swoon: I like it so well, that I may have to make the regular size! I used Moda's "Simply Color".
After finishing another friend's quilt, I pinned my "Star Light, Star Bright" quilt onto the quilter and finished one block. I am using a lot of straight lines!
I may have to dig through my stack of UFOs and find another project to finish!
Later, Gator!
