"For your last task . . .
Pampering and Dreaming
Today you get to grab a cup of your favorite beverage (mine will be hot, cuz it’s cold where I am), put your feet up, and settle in with some of your newly organized magazines or books, picture your neat fabric stash all put away, envision your clean sewing area, and pick out a new project that you want to do in 2010." Go check out Shelly's blog! for full details.

My 2010 goals:

use up my stash

sew and quilt all of my purchased kits

try something new;

AND, I joined the 1951 Quilt along

I don't think that many of my blogging friends know that I am an avid M&M collector. My office is full, as well as several, many, lots of boxes at home. I stopped by the grocery store one night last week and LOOK WHAT I FOUND! I couldn't resist, and he was half price! My little red buddie stands about 2 feet tall and has little reindeer antlers on his big head.
I usually sew in my "den" on an old oak teachers desk. But after my sister left I moved the mess into the kitchen. After dinner last night, I cleaned up the table and put everything AWAY. I will make another mess tomorrow! (in the den)

Today’s task is . . .
Clean up the area around your sewing machine

Will let you know later how I do!

Final Countdown Day 3 task was . . .
Straighten up your stacks of magazines and/or your quilting book shelf.

Here is my before and after. The before picture is a stack piled on the floor. The after is a FULL plastic container! I thought about taking a picture of the whole room, but I would never live down the embarassment! LOL!

I have added a new blog to my blog list. It is the Prairie Moon Quilts blog. I copied the information from Happy Cottage Quilter. "Have you been following Prairie Moon Quilts The Final Countdown this week? Shelly is giving 5 tasks to complete to end the year. If you complete each task, you are eligible for a prize on January 4th. The first day was finishing binding on a quilt, the second day was put away scraps, and today the task is to straighten out magazines or quilt books."

I think this is an excellent idea to help us all clean, clean, clean our craft rooms. I must pass this info on to my sister-in-law Linda!

Good Monday morning, I had finished my last client quilt last week-end, so I have been puttering around in the kitchen baking 14 dozen christmas cookies, and 3 batches of pumpkin bread and peachy nut bread. I have also been working on my blocks for the "Cancer Sew" group. AND, I finished my December Schnibbles--Tuffets. I made 5--and 2 were the same pattern. I thought I was doing a good job with the small, small pieces until I turned them out. Let me tell you, the tiniest oops and it shows BIG time. I used scraps rather than cut up a charm pack.

Finally this Tuesday morning, I want to show you a "fun" quilt that I made yesterday on my extra day off. It is very warm and cuddly.

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Deeeaar Santa

Santa stopped by yesterday to tell me that I won! Thank you Santa!!

Deeeaar Santa, I visisted the Fat Quarter Shop this morning and found some fat quarters that I MUST HAVE! The are called "Truffle Leanika". Kim has been such a WONDERFUL shop owner this year that I hope you leave her something REALLY REALLY nice!

I decided that my living room wasn't Christmasie enough, so I quickly put together this little table topper and put it on the coffee table under my Jim Shore and Eddie Walker figurines. It definitely added color!

I finished a quilt for my friends daughter for Christmas. I used Maywoods "Tulips" and Elenor Burns "Twin Sister". I used high loft batting (her request) so my quilting options were limited. But, it turned out beautiful!

My December Pennsyvania Dutch Block is finished!

Monday, November 30, 2009

Over the long weekend, I quilted a quilt for my sister, two for a friend and finally finished "Cindy's Quilt".

I also cut out two quilts and started both of them.

Have a great Monday!

These are a few of the little projects that I worked on over the long week-end.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my family and friends. We will be going to my sister-in-laws later today. In the mean time, it is quilt, quilt, quilt!

Love to all,
Sandy

The first thing that I sewed on Friday was my first block for the Pennsylvania Dutch BOM. One down, eleven to go. Have a great Monday.

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

I finished my November Schnibbles. However, when I was getting ready to sew the last border on, I spilled my Diet Pepsi Vanilla over it! I quilted it and threw it in the wash. BUT, not all the Diet Pepsi Vanilla came out. So, I will add this to MY stuff and not my gift stash! One of my quilting friends suggested that I tea stain the whole thing.

And, my final accompishment of the week end was starting my November Schnibbles. I am using Moda's "Cherries Jubilee". I have all of the 5" squares and triangles sewn. I was just going to try one square and see how it went. It went fast enough that I finished them!!
I did finish my brother-in-law's quilt and forgot to include it in the "photo session". Tomorrow.

I have had this quilt for about two months and finally got it quilted. I washed it when I was finished and I LOVE how it turned out!

This is Vicki's 2nd doggie quilt. I quilted this with paw prints.

I have pictures! This is Vicki's Doggie I quilt that she made for a friend. I quilted this with doggie bones!

Sunday, November 1, 2009

I decided that you were probably wondering which
quilt that Julie chose. It is from Eleanor Burns and is called "Twin Sisters". I used Maywood's Willowberry and I really love this quilt.
Actually, I made two. I didn't like the quilting on the first one, so I made the second. Then, I ripped out all of the quilting on the first and re-did it. So now we both have one--mine is flannel and her's is cotton!
And, we are both happy!
I wasn't going to post today because I haven't finished anything in the last couple of days, but I have not been sitting on my fat laurels! I got my brother-in-law's quilt quilted, I taught someone how to quilt using a longarm, and have been working this afternoon on this and that.

I got home from golf yesterday and my significant other had all of the clocks turned back--2 pm! I had a pot of ham and beans simmering because my student wasn't going to get to my house until 2:30 and who knew what time we would finish up. So dinner was taken care of.

We had about two trick or treaters and at 7 pm, Wayne looks at me and says "bedtime"! I looked at the clock and he says, I thought that you knew I set the clocks ahead. So, umm, I am up at 4:30 this morning. I showered, read the paper, prepped a roast for the crock pot and logged in to see the November Schnibbles pattern--"Picnic". I got on ebay and found the pattern from Quilt Taffy and bought it. I was so anxious, I clicked the buy button twice and bought two patterns.

I went off to the golf course, arriving an hour early, which I NEVER do and played 18 holes in shirt sleeves, and the windows on the cart were all open. It was 60+ degrees, blue skies and no wind.

When I got home, my step daughter was gone--she will be staying with her brother for two months and then, we get her back. I really enjoyed her company. She left us a little thank you surprise. I let her pick a quilt yesterday. She was happy!

When I finish all of my "this and that" I will post the pics so you will see how busy I was. (Well, I don't know if busy if the right word--maybe obsessed is better?!)

This is another pic of my October Schnibbles.

Happy Monday morning.
There are pictures of my quilted October Schnibbles. I am improving on my feathers, only one boo-boo, which I am not going to show!
I got started on my last quilt for Vicki. I just have to sew on the borders and then quilt it.
I also started a quilt for my friend (Doris)'s daughter.

Monday, October 12, 2009

I also wanted to let you know that I finished my October Schnibbles top yesterday as well. I debated between fall fabric and breast cancer awareness fabric. I went with the latter. Ro Gregg has some beautiful BCA fabric--sorry will post the name tomorrow. Anyway, will get it quilted and post another pic.

Good Monday morning. My sister called yesterday to see why I hadn't posted anything on my blog. I said, "because I had not finished any quilts"! Well, guess what. I finished Vicki's mother-in-law's quilt. Vicki bought the material. It is mainly Moda "Aviary". The picture is not good, but...

Saturday, September 26, 2009

I also wanted to show the back of my (Leeann's) little quilt--it is quite beautiful.
I am off to the farmer's market. When I get home, I am going to start a new fall quilt! Bye

I also finished this little table topper yesterday. Although these
are not my colors, I loved the fabric.

Leeann has been my hairdresser for 20+ years, so I took it to her as a little gift. After 20 years, she deserves something extra for listening to me! She said that they weren't her colors either but she knew right where she was going to put it!

This is a quilt that I made last year. It is from Moda's "Maypole". I quilted it on Thursday, along with Vicki's Quilt. However, I won't send it to her until I have one of her other projects complete. Did I mention, that I sent one of her projects home with her!!!!!!

I wanted to show you a picture of my third cousin, Rejeana, who came down from Spokane last Sunday for a visit. My sister, Rejeana and I do not necessarily look alike but our bodies are quite the same. We have the "Studeville" body!!!

She also brought me a giant zucchini--no, I did not take a picture! Yesterday I chopped it all up and made a double batch of lemon zucchini cake--yum, yum. I took two little cakes to my hairdresser for her son, who loves the cake. She also does NOT tell him that it is zucchini. LOL

Before I log off and start dinner--pasta primavera--I must tell you that I quilted my Schnibbles this afternoon along with another quilt, which I will show you tomorrow. I will do the binding while watching the Mariners WIN!
Oh yeah, did I tell your that I am on vacation this week! YAHOOOOOOO

I have finished my Schnibbles September quilt. I will quilt it this afternoon. I had a heck of a time figuring how do make the flying geese. I had learned a different method. I think that I spent more time on the flying gesse than the rest of the quilt.

I caught my sister in the act! I put the leaf in my dining room table so the two of us could sew together and visit. She rather took over! But, she was happy and this is her picture!

Friday, September 18, 2009

Help me, help me, I have created a monster--My sister has finished her first quilt top and is hooked. She is arriving in eastern Washington this afternoon and is bringing me her new prize so I can quilt it for her. Isn't it Awesome! What do you think?
I think I have an idea--sending her home with one or two of the quilts that she wanted me to make! LOL

Good morning everyone. While wandering around blog land this morning, I came across an interesting sight from Australia, Bush Baby Jag . Julie is helping her son sponsor a Pink Ribbon Breakfast with the proceeds going to Breast Cancer Research. Help Julie and her son, Matt, and the rest of us in our fight against Breast Cancer.

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Great morning, I am still going to work without a jacket! While checking out some of the blogs on my bloglist, I came across a darling ribbon quilt giveaway at Our Cozy Nest. Nicole is also today's tutorial on Moda Bake Shop! Check both places and have a great Tuesday!

Monday, September 14, 2009

I forgot earlier: Good Monday morning!! I just received an email from the Fat Quarter Shop and I won a "Wiscasset Charming Jelly Cake" (A jelly roll, charm pack, and fatquarters) as a prize for participating in the Pennslvania Dutch BOM. AWESOME! and Thanks Kimberly.

I am ready. The fabric has been picked--"Kansas Winter", the fabric has been cut and now all I need is a little time to get started! LOL
PS Of course I will show the finished product--before the end of the month!
Have you wondered why I haven't posted any pictures since the 1st of September? Here is why: I finished this queen size quilt for ME! It is made with "Iced Mocha" from Henry Glass.

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Okay Vicki, 3 down and 3 to go! Here is Jason's quilt! I tried to get a close up of the fabric. It is "Hole in One" by Clothworks. Can you guess that Jason is a golfer??!! Oops, Vicki corrected my numbers. It is actually 4 down and 3 to go!

Monday, August 31, 2009

Remember Melinda's quilt (7-13-2009). She sent a pic of her daughter, Heather, snuggled with the quilt on the couch. It was Heather's birthday present!

Monday, August 24, 2009

Good Monday morning, I finished my "Celebrate Spring" quilt for my friend's granddaughter. As I finished the quilt top, I was thinking of making a run to the fabric store for backing. But, when I thought about it, I had to buy so much extra fabric, that I made 6" strips for the backing. What a stash buster!!
Countdown: 1 quilt for my friend's daughter and 4 quilts for my sister. Plus 2 baby quilts for a gal at work. Quilting sort of keeps me out of trouble!

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

I have been visiting Laurie Simpson's blog (click here) quite a bit lately and telling her how much I love "Prairie Paisley". I finished the binding on this 60" x 60" darling last night and brought it to work this morning for "Show and Tell". One of our engineers bought it immediately!
I think that I need a "design wall" to see the whole picture. I would have changed a few placements. But, I still love it!

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Remember Dick and Jane?
This is Vicki's Christmas present for her grandson, who will start kindergarden this year.
By the way Vicki, this will not look good on your couch!

Sunday, August 9, 2009

This is a quilt called "Antique Brick" designed by Judy Rothermel. I really liked it. Then when I started sewing the pieces together, I didn't like it. The sashing was a woven fabric that stretched as I sewed. I put the whole thing away for awhile and then two weeks ago brought it back out and finished it. Now, I really like it again. Our niece is getting married in the fall and she might be getting this as our gift. We shall see...

The pictures below are the individual squares of the small quilt that we worked on: fall, summer, winter, and spring! (I still haven't figured out how to group multiple pictures!)
