Ryder Cup

2012 Ryder Cup
If you have followed my blog for awhile, you know that my other hobby is Golf.  I love watching the Ryder Cup but it makes me very nervous and exited.  So nervous that I can't stand not to watch it and too nervous to sit.  So, yesterday ESPN televised the whole day.  I could only watch downstairs, where my quilter is located.  I finished two quilts.

Today, NBC is showing the Ryder Cup and I can watch it in my sewing room.  So far today, I finished the flimsy of my "Forget Me Not" Sewalong.

I have sewn the binding on one of the quilts that I finished yesterday.  I finished my monochromatic "Quilties" and have gotten them in the mail.

I have finished three of my "General's Wives" blocks.

I am not quite sure what I will do next, but it won't be just sitting here!  And, I have 12 golf matches to watch tomorrow, in addition to football, so who knows what I will finish/or get started!  I will let you know.

PS  Don"t forget to try the "Cheddar Bay Biscuit" recipe  listed below.   Soooooo GOOD!

Halloween Quilts

Can you ever have too many Halloween Quilts??  Melissa from Happy Quilting has introduced another great tutorial called "Starburst".  I am thinking of making the same 4 block quilt in Halloween fabric.  I still have to finishing quilting the second half of the Irish Chain quilt.  But I think I can fit Melissa's quilt in!!

I wanted to share a fantastic "Cheddar Bay Drop Biscuit" recipe with you and give proper credit to the blog where I thought that I found it.  I have looked for the last 40 minutes through the site but can't find the recipe. Sorry!  But these are absolutely wonderful!  I FOUND THE BLOG!!  STELLA B'S KITCHEN

Cheddar Bay Drop Biscuits

2 cups flour                                                2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp sugar                                                 ¾ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda                                      ½ tsp garlic powder
               1 cup buttermilk
1 stick butter, melted and cooled
               ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

               Preheat oven to 450o
Line baking sheet with parchment paper
                         Combine dry ingredients and whisk.
Combine the cooled, melted butter with cold buttermilk.
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients.
Add shredded cheese and stir until just combined.
Using ¼ cup scoop, drop biscuits about an inch or two apart.
Bake 12-14 minutes, until golden brown.

Brush on top of baked biscuits:
                  1 Tbsp butter, melted
                  ½ tsp garlic powder
                  1 tsp parsley, chopped fine

Now, it's downstairs to do some quilting.

A Sunday Finish

I have had a very busy week.  A friend was having a moving sale and I decided to get rid of some fabric.  I spent about two hours every night last week sorting and bagging up fabric, kits and fat quarters that I knew I would never get to.  The big sale was yesterday for six hours.  I did not sell any finished goods, pillowcases, small table toppers, tote bags or pouches.  But, I did sell a little fabric, CHEERS!  Several quilters were happy happy to buy some good fabric.

I slept like a log last night.  Got up this morning, thinking that I would only need a couple of hours to finish up my Irish Chain quilt.  Well, I just finished the borders and took pictures.  Tomorrow, I will sew the backing together and then get it on the quilter.  I mostly used Moda's "Little Black Dress", with several other remnants.  The background is Moda's Bella Solids, "Etchings Stone".  And, the quilt is KING SIZE!!

Tetris

I finished my Tetris quilt yesterday.  I used Moda's "Sophie".  I found some for the backing on sale last week--YEAH!  To finish it off, I made one more block and then cut two squares of backing and sewed them together.  I am not sure if you can see the three blocks because Sophie is a busy fabric, but they are on the lower left.

Once again, Melissa was a great hostess for this fun little quilt!  THANK YOU MELISSA!
