 Happy Holiday!

Good morning.  I took an extra day off from work to get things done.  Here's my complete list:  groceries, vaccuming, dusting, laundry and wrapping packages.  Now I am going to set down at my sewing machine and play.  I am also waiting for some phone calls to go look at puppies!

I did finish a mini quilt called "Mountain Trails", designed by Sew Unique Creations.

I made a quilt that I found on Moda Bake Shop.  It is called Wild Rose Postage Stamp Quilt by Julie Sebire.  I used Moda's "Glace".

I have also made some Jewelry Bags.  I got the pattern from Debbie Maddy's web site:  Calico Carriage Quilt Designs.

My lovely sister-in-law sent me pics today of the quilt that I made for her.  It is "Patches and Posts" by Bunny Hill Designs.  I used Moda's "Collection for a Cause-Hope".  Linda is using the same fabric to make curtains for one of her "Glamping Trailers"!

Beautiful!

Monday, December 6, 2010

I know that I have been a little remiss about posting but...

     I have made about a dozen or so "Mug Rugs";
     I have made a quilt and candle mat for my sister-in-laws Glamping Trailer (forgot to take a picture, but she will and send it to me!);
     I have made a quilt for my DH's cousin and bartered some beautiful pottery;
     I have made a cute snowman table topper with a Mug Rug to match!
     I have quilted another quilt for my sister and one for a friend at work:
     I have made and frozen three batches of pumpkin bread and peach nut bread;
     I have made and frozen three batches of shortbread (both my DH and sister LOVE shortbread);
     I have started another Moda Bake Shop quilt.  I will show this when it is finished.  I used Moda's Glace'.
     And finally, I purchased an antique drying rack for my quilts.

And here is the "proof of the pudding" or is it "in the pudding" !

I took a little lesson from Madame Samm today, and sort of staged my little mug rugs!

Sunday, November 14, 2010

I haven't got much sewing/quilting done in the last couple of weeks.  But I got my first "Mug Rug" made.

I have also finished four little scrappy quilts.

I plan to spend the rest of the  day being creative!
I went to Bellingham last week-end to see family.  This is a picture of my sister, me and my twin (cousin).  When we were about 3 years old (Linda and I were three, Vicki was four), my mother made us matching polka dot dresses and took our picture,  It was so cute!  I would show it to you but it is an old black and white and I don't know how to get it on my computer.  Anyway, I wanted a current picture of the three of us.  My sister is 63, I am 62 and Linda will be 62 next week.   Linda is on the left, I am in the middle and Vicki is on the right.

I have been trying very hard to get my BOM finished before Carol   Although, there wasn't any reason, I just wanted to beat her!  OK, I might be a little competitive. However, she normally finished her blocks before me!.   However, mine is quilted and the binding is done!  TA DA:

Thursday, October 21, 2010

Here is block #12 of the Pennsylvania Dutch BOM from the Fat Quarter Shop.  I have pieced all of the blocks, sewn two borders on and have the next two borders ready.  Will send pics of the finished quilt after this weekend.

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

Got a cute email today about a senior's halloween.  But this is the only image that I was allowed to upload--go figure!  I have two of the four borders on my Pennslyvania Dutch BOM quilt--should have it completed this week-end.

I also got a call from my twin today (actually my cousin, who is 4 months younger than I am.  But, we look more alike than my sister and I).  She will be celebrating her 30th anniversary on November 6.  They are going to renew their vows and then have a small family reception.  It's a 5+ hour drive, but I think that she deserves it.  PLUS, I can see my sister and my son.  WHOOPEE.!.  West side quilt shops, here we come!

There used to be a bouncing pumpkin here, BUT IT WAS DRIVING ME NUTS so I have to cut it up to make pumpkin bread.  Rest in peace little buddie!

Saturday, October 16, 2010

Good afternoon!  It has been a good day.  I played golf this morning--shot so-so(I paid my golfing partner $0.80.  I am still up $1.40 for the season!).  I quilted a pinwheel halloween quilt that I have been working on. It is 38" x 38", so I will use it as a table topper.   We watched Texas kick ass to the Yankees while I sewed on the binding.

We just finished supper--swiss steak, the dishes are done and we are watching the Phillies vs the Giants.

I have also finished the last two blocks of my Pennsylvannia Dutch BOM and will start the finishing process tomorrow.

GO PHILLIES!

Monday, October 4, 2010

 I have about 10 minutes before supper is ready and I wanted to get these pictures posted. I did not play golf this weekend--there was a two day tournament that had a full field. So, I stayed home, watched the Ryder Cup, college football, proball and sewed and quilted to my hearts content. I must say, that I am feeling so much better with my new bff-CPap that I am almost giggly!  The first two quilts I got from the Moda Bake Shop.  They are small table toppers, "Candy Bar Pinwheels", designed by Doug Leko from Antler Design.

I used Deb Strain's "Saltbox Harvest"

I used Moda's "Origins" for this one.

I used several 2 1/2" strips of autumn fabric for the last one.  It is lapsize.

Ha, and you thought I just sat around all weekend!  Oops!  I almost forgot--I made Halloween Sugar Cookies, bats, black cats, and pumpkins.  So cute and so gone!

Day 5 and 6 of Sandy's fall vacation.

Had my follow-up Dr's appointment from my sleep study.  I have acute obstructive apnea and acute restless leg syndrome, which was a complete surprise.  So, here is my new best friend.

I woke up this morning with two big red splotches on my checks.  I may have had it a bit too snug!  I will make some adjustments tonight.

I finished another fall quilt yesterday afternoon and will get it quilted and bound today.  Only today and tomorrow left for my vacation.  BUT, I only work Thursday and have my regular 3 day week-end.

I have already visited Sandy from Pieces from my Heart on day 2 of the "Fall O Ween" blog hop : http://www.piecesfrommyheart-sgervais.blogspot.com/ and have printed her darling "Pumpkin Spice" pattern.  Stop by when you get the chance!

Off to breakfast with the ladies!

Just got home--had my oil changed and tires rotated!  I have completed all of my goals for the CGQC!
Day 4 Sandy's Fall Vacation

Got up Sunday morning and played 18 holes of golf.  On #16, one of my fellow playing companions threw a hissy fit because someone was talking in his back swing!  Pretty much ended the round!

 Got home about noon and made a potatoe salad for supper. Then, went downstairs and finished quilting my Kim Diehl quilt.  I quilted a grid on each of the plaid patches and quilted little circles in the four corners.  I also added some flowers to the borders.

Vacation Day 2 and 3

Okay, my Friday did not go as planned.  I had a long list of things to do.  But...
I slept again until 7 am; had coffee, loaded a quilt on the quilter and went to get my hair cut.

I also, shhhh, had a job interview that I think went quite well.  And my day was done.  I came home, fixed supper and vegetated in my chair.

Today, I played golf, stopped at the fabric store on my way home and then downstairs to quilt.  I quilted "Missy's Fall Garden Quilt" by Jamie with L'Fair Quilts.  It was featured on the "Moda Bake Shop" site a few weeks ago.  However, I used "Mill House Inn" instead of fall fabrics.

I did not get myKim Diehl finished but it is still on the quilter.  It is half finished.

I came upstairs and put a roast in the oven and am now dinking around in my study, watching college football!

Day 1

Slept in until 7 am, normally I am up at 4 am.
Made coffee, showered and took a trip through blogland.
Left the house and had a pedicure--my toenails are orange--Happy Fall/Halloween!
Did some shopping.
Got my Kim Diehl quilt on the quilting frame and have sewn the borders on another quilt.

I am fixing pork chops and a cabbage/pasta dish for supper and will have time to sew the binding on after supper, before bedtime!

Love to all!

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

I am getting ready for my fall vacation.  I normally take time off when my sister comes to visit.  But this year, I screwed up and took the wrong week off!  I did quilt three projects for her while she was here, so my time off is my own.  I can hardly wait until 4:30 pm tomorrow, Sept 22!

I have finished my Kim Diehl quilt but it needs to be quilted.  In fact, I have three of my own that need quilting.  I also want to make some more Halloween table toppers and such.

I also have a follow up appointment with the doctor--I flunked both of my sleep tests, so will see what the next step is.  I would really, really like to sleep through the night.  (Sounds like 41 years ago when I wished that my son would sleep through the night!!).

Lunch is over, so its back to work (for one more day!!)
I just read about a new blog hop.  I have participated in the hop previously and have had a lot of fun.  You will visit 10 designers in 10 days and have 10 new projects.  Have Fun!

Monday, September 6, 2010

I am ready for the big fall reveal!!!  The first picture is my "Halloween" Table Topper and the second pic is my fall table topper, using, what was that, Yes, the disappearing nine patch!  I also made cookies and pumpkin bread this week-end.  I love having extra days off.

I have also cut my fabric, finished all of the blocks and have started sewing the rows together on my Kim Diehl quilt.

Sunday, August 22, 2010

I was playing around with a baby quilt pattern that I found on "Moda Bake Shop". I changed it just a bit and will use it as a table topper in the summer. I used a jelly roll of Moda's "Lemonade".
I am thinking "Autumn" and table toppers. I brought my fall stash upstairs and will begin sorting.

Check--I just finished my Pennslyvania Dutch BOM #10--two more to go!

CGQC Check--finished my August Schnibbles, a small "Plan C". Used Moda's Verna and I really think that I like this one the best. Truthfully, I didn't like it until it was quilted. That seemed to pull it altogether.

Thursday, August 12, 2010

I finished this quilt(Patches and Posts, "Aviary") in May but sent it off last week to my cousin Linda and her husband Mike because they gave me a BIG box of M&M collectibles. I love the pattern and the fabric! And I love Linda and Mike!
Got an email from Linda this morning. She loves it too!

Check--ironing all caught up

Check--some Sandy time--my toenails are now blue!

Now, I am ready to start my August Schnibbles!
I sent this quilt off to a sweet gal who worked part time in the lab a few years ago. She joined the Army, served overseas, and is going to school. She is getting married Saturday August 28. Good Luck to "Doni".
