"Abecedarian"

I can't believe how much of my day is taken up with playing golf!!  It is a good thing that I am up by 5 am or I wouldn't get any sewing done on golf days!!  LOL!

Sew, I finished up a quilt called "Abecedarian" from the Sep/Oct 2014 Quilty.  However, instead of a white background, I used some black "Little Black Dress" and two charm packs! (all fabric was from my stash!)

I have a couple of other quilts in various stages, what's new, and will show you when completed!  For now, I must wrap my sister's birthday presents sew I can get them in the mail tomorrow!

Progress

While I was at Quilt Retreat, I met a gal, Kathy Coontz, who is the Montana State Coordinator for the Quilts of Valor Foundation.  I made a commitment to send her a QOV quilt from my stash.  While sorting through my unquilted stash, I found and quilted another one to send.  Sew, tomorrow, two quilts will be on their way to Montana!!

This morning, I got up at my usual early 4:30 am and after my coffee and catching up with my blogs, I finished up a quilt top that I started at retreat.  It has been loaded on my quilting machine and one row is complete.  I wanted to do something a little different with the blocks.  Here is what I came up with:

I will be in Walla Walla most of the day tomorrow--golfing!  Sew, I probably will not get any sewing, or quilting done.  BUT, will have a nice day outside!!

PS  Happy Birthday Vicki!!

A Spooky Swoon

After cleaning house this morning while the boys took their walk, I wandered down to the dungeon and spent the day quilting!  This is the only quilt top that I finished at our "Super" retreat last week  I worked on three different quilts but kept running out of fabric!

Oops, got writer's  cramps, will see you later!  PS, no Vicki, I did not quilt any of your quilts!  LOL!

Moving On?!

No golf today.  I got my chores complete, made some pumpkin scones, and started another quilt.  BUT, it is not a fall quilt, it is a HALLOWEEN QUILT!  I saw a similar quilt on Pinterest.

Two blocks

I will probably have to finish it at Quilt Retreat!  My sister and I are once again headed to McCall, Idaho for a 4-day retreat.  It is about  an 8 hour drive and is located in a beautiful three story lodge.  This year, we will not know most of the other quilters, but that makes it more fun.  I will show you pics of my finishes when I get back.  Until next week...

OK, I lied!

I said that I was finished making fall quilts, but I keeping finding patterns that are so cute.  Plus, some of the fall fabric is BEAUTIFUL!

I still have not figured out a morning routine when I am not golfing.  I really don't want to sit down to the sewing machine first thing.  It has been dark when I have gotten up, and too early for a walk. I have already had coffee, finished the binding on the above quilt, and vacuumed and oiled my sewing machine.   Sew, here I sit, trying to decide what to work on.  Will catch up with you later!

It's Official

Yesterday was my official last day of work, although, I did very little!!  I did help mix up some chemicals in the morning.  My replacement moved his stuff out of my old office sew that I could use it for the day.  Thanks Marcos!  We had a nice catered lunch .  My boss did an excellent job at organizing the party and the surprises!  I received a crystal bowl that is engraved with:  "Live Well, Laugh Often, and Love Retirement"!  I also received personalized M&M's (Golf Greens with flags, "Retired and Loving it", "Congratulations" and "It's My Time Now")  I also got a gift card from the company and a gift card from my co-workers.  I will miss those guys!

Although I said that I was finished making fall quilts and table toppers, I finished this mini Bear Claw for the monthly "Prairie Children and Their Quilts" sew along.

And this quilt is called "Midnight Stars" from Red Door Designs.  It is not totally fall colors but the black background fabric has orange, red, and yellow dots on it!

Sew, I am off to take a walk and then shred some zucchini for the freezer and for lemon zucchini cake today!
