Vacation!

Vacation you ask?!  You are retiring in 15 working days and you are taking vacation,  YES, I am!  And, I am enjoying it.  Plus, it is good practice for things to come!  I have been off since July 3, 2014.  I stayed home for the 4th and went to Everett on Saturday morning to deliver some quilts to my sister and her friend,  My son and daughter in law met us for lunch and then my sister and I hit some of our favorite shops, including "Aunt Mary's" in Smokey Point,  Aunt Mary is offering a beginning embroidery class on August 9th.  I am thinking of going to get a refresher!

The first finished quilt is called "Lucky Stars" , which can be found on Quilt Story!

The next finish is "True Blue" from Minick and Simpson.

And finally, although a bit late, is my Red, White and Blue Pinwheel.

As usual, I have several projects going and will show you some pics when finished.  Oh, my sewing machine was getting louder and louder, sounding like a thrashing machine.  I took it apart and of course, it was loaded with lint.  I vacuumed and oiled it.  It now hums!

Oops, the pics don't really show the quilting on the first two quilts.  I think that I need close ups!

I re-connected  with some cousins on my mother's side of the family yesterday.  There had been an obituary in the Bellingham paper listing someone with my name and birth day and thought that I had passed away.  I am so happy to have "talked" to them.  Thanks Robin for finding me again.

  3. Yes, Sandy and I had a great time last weekend. We found a new to us shop in Arlington. It was an old storefront but the shop was surprisingly big. And they were having a 25% off sale!

Yes, Sandy is retiring. With her free time, maybe my projects will rise like cream to the top of her piles ( I mean, her organized stack of quilt tops :) )

    Love you! xoxox

  4. Your quilt tops look beautiful, as usual. I just finished Nantucket by Minick and Simpson in their Indigo Crossing blues. Always a worry when you see your own name in the obituaries!
