In 2007, I made my cousin's grandchildren quilts. The oldest granddaughter, now 16, takes her blankie every where. When I was down last September, I did a minor repair. But, this year, OMG it was a major rebuild. Besides the wear, the cat had chewed a couple of holes in it! I got the quilt in the mail Monday. Mon-Thurs evenings I ripped all of the quilting out. This morning I cut new blocks to replace the bad ones, and then this afternoon quilted it,

It warms the heart to see such a loved quilt. My great nephew, age ten, still takes his quilt with him and makes sure it is wherever he is going to sleep, at home or at grandma's. I have repaired the binding twice when we have been back to Ohio, this last time his mother had sewn a ribbon binding on as it was so tattered. There is no batting left but he loves it so. A loved and worn quilt is the best compliment a quilter can have.
ReplyDeleteThis was an act of pure love. Very impressive of you. Don't think I have what it takes to do that much repair.
